How to read your stock numbers like an owner, not a clerk
Open your inventory screen and ignore everything except three signals. First: what will run out before your next purchase arrives — that’s your reorder list. Second: what hasn’t moved in 60 days — that’s cash sitting on a shelf. Third: what moved fastest this week — that’s your margin engine.
Most owners check these backwards: they worry about the stuck stock first because it’s visible, and they reorder the fast movers by gut feeling. Flip it — protect the fast movers with real reorder points, then deal with the stuck stock once a month.
You don’t need a data team for this. You need the numbers to be trustworthy — scanned in, not typed in — and a habit of looking at the same three signals every Monday morning.
